Here is a collection of wedding bands that i’ve made in the last year or so. they range from super technical to rather simple. one thing they all have in common is that they were made custom for the clients who ordered them

A&N
this set of rings were hand carved from wax. His ring is 6mm wide & cast in 14k white gold, hers is 11mm wide, and cast in 18k rose gold. both rings are engraved with each others names , as well as special symbols that were created by the bride to be-

G&J
this set of rings was created to compliment the bride to be’s vintage Edwardian filigree engagement ring.
here ring was fabricated to fit perfectly around the engagement ring, cast in 14k white gold ..than rhodium plated to give it that bright white look, set with heirloom diamonds & hand engraved by an old world master to match her engagement ring. His ring was fabricated to match the octagon shape of the bezel on her ring.. cast in 14k white, than the face of the ring was carefully stippled to give it a contrasting finish, both rings have each others fingerprints laser engraved into the inside of the rings-

alchemy
this set of rings were hand made from 14k white gold stock.. first a texture is applied, than formed into the rings… after that the planets that rule each their astrological signs, each ring was laser engraved with all three symbols(they have a baby).. than for a special touch the bride and groom had each others finger prints laser engraved into each others rings. this is a great example of a rather simple ring design, custom tailored to exactly what the couple wanted.

panikbands
the rings pictured above are two of my favorites…made for a dear friend, and given complete creative freedom to create what ever i want! first a sheet of 12 gauge sterling silver was measured & cut the width of BOTH rings combined, than the material was reticulated( the technique that give it the surface a foiled texture).. from here i measured the width of each ring, and made my cut… here is where my favorite part comes in- i left the cut edges intact, and formed the rings… ordinarily when i make this ring the edged get filed flat.. in this case i left both edges as they were, one side with its organic line to symbolize each persons unique individuality, the cut edge was left to symbolize how two such individually unique , and strong people fit so well together-

goldrelic
this ring is hand formed and textured from a piece of 18k white gold sizing stock(basically a bar of gold)- pretty simple and totally unique.

SHANE
shane's
these rings were made to compliment the engagement ring that i made for a couple a while back. the engagement ring was made molded from antique nails.. the request was for the rings to look like relics. his is a channel design cast in 18k white gold, hers is cast in 18k yellow.

foiledfoliedprint
here is another example of an Igenous ring tweeked to suite the clients needs.. the edges are left organic, and the inside engraved with his wife to be’s fingerprint-

here is another favorite of mine.. contrasting textures hand applied to a 14k white gold band… it reminds me of a mountain range-

these next few rings are perfect examples of my talents being pushed by my clients(your) imagination…

at first glance this just looks like a random design.. to a genetic engineer (the client) it’s more like the personal DNA chain for the bride and groom, pretty crazy right!?!

IMG_2243-725x632
this ring was created as a celebration of a anniversary. She wanted something with a art-deco feel,
the texture on the upper most layer really ads a special twist.

IMG_2544-725x632IMG_2547-725x632
this is perhaps one of the most radical(and challenging, and favorite) concepts i’ve created to date!!
it’s pretty self explanatory.. a black panther (symbolizing his relationship with his bride to be), crushing a gold band(the wedding band from his first marriage).. symbolizing that his new relations ship is fierce, and strong.. and therefore crushing the former relationship..
the panther was carved from clay(by me), cast in silver. the gold band is actually the gold wedding band from his first marriage.. the ring is than set with yellow sapphire eyes, black diamond whiskers, white diamond teeth, and pink sapphires for the tongue- it’s a really conversation piece to say the least!

ceco-cougar
this concept started out as an email exchange with a dear old friend who would be needing a special ring for his upcoming wedding-
this is what came out of that exchange of ideas.. three artdeco prowling panthers nestled in a channel ring, cast in 10k rose gold.. with a tiny ruby set into the eye of one of the panthers.

Here are some example of some of the custom engagement rings that i’ve made.
generally the client gives me a rough idea, sometimes i’m provided with family heirlooms to be re-purposed in the ring that is being made.other times if the client is in (or can get to L.A.)
i take them to see a private diamond/gem dealer, and the client chooses the right stone for the ring that is being custom made for them. this is such a great way to be a part of the process of making something so special and custom!

take a gander at these-

Smokey Quartz and Stag beetle leg ring;

IMG_2518-725x632
the shank of this ring is made from casting of a Hercules beetle’s front legs (the specimens come from my private collection), after a mold is made from the legs the wax is formed into a ring, and cast it 14k yellow gold, the Smokey Quartz was provided by the client(it was obtained from a a mine in Colorado)

stagg
bonsey
these ring are also made from the castings of beetle legs, one is cast in 18k white , and set with a .75 carat white diamond. the other is cast in 14k yellow, and set with a Mexican Fire Opal!

helix
This is one of the more complex rings that i’ve had to design. the shank splits into two(one either side) and forms a helix that transitions through the halo setting & into the prongs for the center stone. the ring is cat in platinum, and set with a 1.2 carat white diamond center stone, and 18 1.5mm halo settings.

mitra
here is another example of a helix band, the helix design in this and are squared off to form more of a traditional “cathedral” styled halo setting- the ring is cast in 18k white, the center stone is set with a 1 carat Asscher cut diamond. the tops and side of the halo are set with 1mm white diamonds, while the band is set with colored diamonds graduating from dark to light.

casey
here is yet another example of a custom halo setting ring. The setting is cast in platinum, and set with vintage Miner cut white diamonds(center stone 1carat)

J&h
edwardian-1
These are both examples of my twist on Edwardian styled rings- the frst is cast in 18k yellow gold(with the helix style band) the second cast in 14k yellow. Both rings are set with family heirloom diamonds, both rings are also hand engraved by a master graver(he’s 88 years old!)
these rings really pushed me creatively, and again a perfect example of what happens when you work closly with your clients!

alex
Fancy pants!!!! this ring is cast in 14k white gold , and set with a .85 carat main diamond , and 20 secondary diamonds ranging from 1.2mm-2.2mm.
it’s not the best photo, but it’s a great example of the types of rings that can be created!

niktwinkoblue-sapphire
these are some examples of solitaire ring designs..
marquee diamond set into a 14k rose gold hand formed ring.

a oval Blue Sapphire set into a hand formed 18k white shank and bezel.

and a .75 carat white diamond set into a 14k yellow shank and bezel.

alexshannonalex
Before the diamond got marketed to be the symbol for being engaged, the Blue Sapphire was used.
here are two examples of using a Blue Sapphires.
the first is a 18k white halo style ring, set with a 7x9mm oval blue sapphire surrounded by white diamonds.

the second is a very simple yet elegant style setting. a 14k white shank with a 3.5mm blue sapphire center stone ,flanked by 2mm white diamonds.

beckmann--These are two of my favorite ring designs!
these are the rings that i designed for Jeff & Mary..(see custom belt buckle in the next post)

Hers: A custom Claddagh ring. the main part of the ring is cast in platinum & the celtic band on the ring shank is cast in 18k yellow gold.
the crown is set with 20 .7mm white diamonds & a green garnet set just above-

His: this is a spin on one of my bound rings, Made just a tad narrower the band
is hand formed from 14g sterling silver, than the same design that was used to make the Celtic knot on Mary’s ring was laser engraved into Jeff’s ring.. the knot is capped of with an M. the ring is riveted together with 2 14g rose gold rivets-

these designs are a perfect example of collaborating with a client to get them exactly what they want..
for me these types of projects are my favorite, working with clients in this capacity is truly inspiring, as well as an honor.
m&j

Here are a few images of some wedding bands i made in the past year..

These rings are cast from the fingerprints of the bride and groom..

This client wanted a Elvis inspired wedding band for her husband.

This design is made from a hand forged silver band. I set 8 rivets in the band, 7 to look like screws, and the 8th in 18k yellow gold.

Over the summer i got a call from an old friend.. it was his 15 year wedding anniversary and he needed a new ring. It was a while since he actually worn one, the
ring he worn last had to get cut from his finger(never try to repair a running lawnmower!), we put our heads together and came up with this… A reticulated silver band with 13 gold stitches!

No idea is too crazy… So if you want something really special for the most specialist of occasions shoot us an email
